FEBRUARY 9, 2023 | TORONTO, ON. – Over 600 boxers from across Ontario, Canada, and the world gathered in Brampton from February 2-5, 2023 to compete in the historic Brampton Cup, Canada’s largest and longest-running Olympic-style boxing tournament.

The renowned tournament, hosted by Bramalea Boxing Club and sanctioned by Boxing Ontario, celebrated its milestone 40th anniversary with three rings and six sessions of exciting amateur boxing action at the Save Max Sports Centre.

Featuring athletes of all ages and categories, the four days of competition witnessed competitive bouts, impressive talent, and sportsmanship as athletes competed for coveted Brampton Cup medals in front of a large, supportive crowd.

“The Brampton Cup has come a long way in 40 years. It’s because of the athletes who enter to box; they make it better and better every year,” said the Brampton Cup organizing committee. United by the love of boxing, the 2023 Brampton Cup welcomed teams from across Canada, the United States, Ireland, and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The 40th anniversary of the Brampton Cup was made even more special with the presence of the 2023 Canadian Elite Championships hosted at the tournament by Boxing Canada, showcasing the top Elite boxing talent in the country and providing inspiration to the next generation of up-and-coming athletes.

The prestigious Brampton Cup is awarded to the club with the best performance of the tournament, and the 2023 Brampton Cup was presented to King of the Ring Boxing and Fitness for the second year in a row! “Congratulations to Ajaz Khan and the coaches and athletes of King of the Ring Boxing, tournament champions. Your boxers and fans gave the tournament unmatched excitement and energy which is why the Brampton Cup has become the tournament that it is. Bravo, KOTR!” said the Brampton Cup organizing committee.

Boxing Ontario would like to thank Kathy Sjouwerman, President of Bramalea Boxing Club, for her tireless hard work and dedication to manage and run this unforgettable tournament.
