Four Ontario Youth athletes have been selected to represent Canada at the AMBC Continental Championships in Cali, Colombia from August 1-10, 2023:

Boxing Canada selected the athletes based on their excellent results following the national Youth Talent ID Camp which was held in Montreal, QC from May 18-21, 2023.

Why did you first start boxing? Tell us about your progression in the sport.

My brother was a wrestler and wanted me to pick up another type of combat sport, so after years of going to wrestling practices with him he put me in boxing. Found out I have a natural talent for boxing and stuck with it. Making me lose 45 pounds to be at the weight class I’m currently at.

What has your biggest challenge been as a competitive boxer? 

Biggest challenge for me is staying in fight shape year-round and having a strict diet to stay around my fight weight.

What has your biggest achievement been as a competitive boxer?

Winning gold at the Canada Winter Games and proving to be the best in Canada to get selected for the Continental Championships.

What are your future goals in the sport of boxing?

Long-term goal is going pro and becoming a world champion. Short-term goal is to continue going to international tournaments and winning to build experience for the pros.

How did you feel when you found out that you were selected to represent Canada at the Continental Championships in Colombia?

I was/am excited to prove myself on the international stage and prove to the people who believe in me right by winning the international tournaments.
