FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | June 13, 2025 – USTI NAD LABEM, Czech Republic – Boxing Canada is proud to announce that four standout athletes have advanced to the gold medal finals at the 2025 World Challenge, held June 10–14 in Usti nad Labem. This prestigious international tournament marks the first major test of the season for the Canadian team and featured high-level competition from across Europe and Asia.
The following Canadian athletes will compete for gold:
- Marie Al-Ahmadieh (Women’s 57kg – QC, The Corner)
- Viktoria Penney (Women’s 80kg – ON, Sully’s Boxing Gym)
- Joshua Ofori (Men’s 75kg – AB, Marshal Boxing Club)
- Nickenson Denis (Men’s 80kg – QC, The Corner)
Head Coach Vincent Auclair praised the team’s strong performances:
“The performance of the team has been strong. This was our first test in 2025 against the Asian countries and everyone has learned a lot.”
Senior National Team Coach Samir El Mais highlighted the value of the experience:
“The competition here has been very high quality – similar to what we expect at the World Cup in Kazakhstan. The confidence gained through this competition is going to pay off later this season!”
