Dear Members of Boxing Canada,
The board of directors would like to inform all PTSO’s of an important addition to our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for December 9th, 2023. In addition to our standard agenda, and election, we will be holding an election to fill the vacancy for the position of Director of Ontario for the remainder of the one-year term.
This is a significant opportunity for members who are passionate about the growth and governance of Boxing in Canada. We encourage those who have a vision and commitment to contribute to our sport to consider this role. However, please note that only residents of Ontario are eligible to be nominated for this particular position.
The nomination period for this position is now open and will close on November 27th, 2023. We urge interested candidates to submit their nominations promptly to ensure their participation in this process.
Furthermore, I would like to draw your attention to the upcoming Canadian Sports Governance code, which will come into effect in April 2025. One of the key requirements of this code is that at least 40% of our Board of Directors must be female. In light of this, we strongly encourage female candidates to step forward and consider taking on an active role within our organization. This is a crucial step towards meeting these new governance standards and ensuring diverse representation within our Boxing Canada.
