It’s time for #FeatureFriday, where we share the stories behind the faces of Boxing Ontario, and this week’s feature is Lucas Falkner!

What gym do you train out of?

L: I’m from Border City Boxing Club out of Windsor ON.

Why did you first start boxing? What/who inspired you?

L: I first started boxing in search for a very good workout, and it turned out to be much more than a sport. I was very inspired by the fighters I train with, after seeing the things they could accomplish, I knew all of it was possible for me.

What motivates you as an athlete?

L: As an athlete, I’m motivated by my inner competitiveness, my desire for the sport, and also my future goals.

What has your biggest challenge been as a boxer?

L: My biggest challenge as a boxer is to keep working when nobody is watching. To keep working when nobody is watching is, in my opinion, the most important trait to have in boxing.

What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far?

L: My greatest achievement in boxing would probably have to be winning gold at the Brampton Cup tournament. I fought two fights (for the first time); I won the first by R.S.C., and the next was a hard fought victory.

What are your goals in boxing?

L: My next goal for now is to fight at the Golden Gloves tournament, and some of my larger goals include becoming National Champ and maybe turning pro one day.

What would you like people to know about boxing?

L: I would like people that are scared of the danger of boxing to know that boxing is only as dangerous as you make it, as you can discontinue anything at anytime (and you don’t even have to fight).
