All Boxing Ontario coaches are invited to a Coaches Meet-Up via Zoom on Thursday, March 4th at 7pm!

Our speakers for the night are Chadrick Wigle, Socrates Celestial, and Cedric Benn! We will be interviewing Chadrick about his experiences down at the US Training Centre as well as future development opportunities; Socrates will be discussing the High Performance testing for elite athletes; and Cedric will be providing coaching tips.

About the Speakers:

Coach Chadrick Wigle began his coaching career in 1992 through Boxing Ontario, coaching out of Kingsville Boxing Club and Border City Boxing in Windsor, ON. In 2005, Chad moved to the United States where he eventually became the Coach Education Coordinator for USA Boxing, and, for the first time since 1984, redesigned the coach education system. He is AIBA Star 2 certified and currently the Assistant Coach for the U.S. Marines boxing team at Camp Lejeune, NC, USA.

Socrates Celestial (Coach Soc) has 25 years of coaching experience and has worked with both pro and amateur boxers successful at the local, provincial, national, and international levels. He was the Provincial Coach of Ontario from 2015-2019 and is now a member of the High Performance Committee. His duties are to supervise the high performance team and to prepare athletes for national competition. Coach Soc works out of Mississauga via Kombat Arts Boxing Club. Justin Parina and John Michael Bianco are two of his personal athletes who are on the National Team and are vying for the Olympics in 2021. By designations, he is a Level 3 NCCP National Coach and AIBA Two-Star Certified Boxing Coach.

Cedric’s coaching career has allowed him to witness some of the greatest boxing talent in the world. He was the Chief Assistant Coach to Adam Trupish who placed 5th at the 2007 World Championships, competed as the only Canadian in the 2008 Olympics as well as received several gold medals at the National Boxing Championship. He was also responsible for assisting Mary Spencer in her 2nd and 3rd World Championship matches in which she won gold. Cedric has also coached a number of athletes successful at the national level. In 2010, he was selected by Boxing Ontario to be the Team Leader at the nationals, and in 2011, the Assistant Coach for the junior provincial team. In March 2015, he was proud to receive his Advanced Coaching Diploma from the NCI-Ontario, which is the highest level of education one can obtain in the National Coaching Certification Program. At the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, he was one of only three people holding the position of National Technical Official (NTO). This experience allowed him to network with many experienced coaches from different countries and discuss the way they view the sport of boxing in their culture.

The main part of the presentation will last one hour and will close with a Q&A.
