Congratulations to Kerry Hendren for succesfully hosting the second annual Dave Sparks Memorial. This event is to pay tribute to the memory of  Dave Sparks and to recognise officials from the Eastern Region. This years recipient of official of the year was Boxing Ontario legend and long time Boxing Official George Fraser. The award was presented by Canadian Hall of Famer Joe Sandulo of Ottawa.

This years Memorial was represented by boxing clubs from Ottawa to Niagara Falls and was attended by over five hundred amatuer boxing fans, boxing legends, and rock & roll legend Ronnie Hawkins. Also receiving recognition for many years of support and involvment in amatuer boxing were Mr. & Mrs. Wilson of Peterborough.
There were fifteen very competitive bouts put together by the region’s chief coach Kerry Hendren and all fifteen bouts went off as planned.  (no small feat) These events are an excellent way to showcase amatuer boxing and to show our appreciation to our hard working, dedicated volunteers.  Thanks again to Regional coach Kerry Hendren and his group of volunteers it was a job well done.
