February Update

Cadet Provincials

Please note the draw time has changed for the Cadet Draw tomorrow.It will occur at 10:00am, not noon as originally scheduled.After the draw, the programs will be posted on the website.Remember your athletes must weigh-in at the tournament at the weight they registered at, or forfeit the bout.This applies to the Open Cadet C athletes as well as all the others.

Hope you come out and support our athletes this weekend in Mississauga at the Cadet Provincials.  Best of luck to all the athletes this weekend!

Please remember that any credits obtained due to competitors not receiving a bout or medical cancellations must be acknowledged to Deide Konney, Membership & Program Coordinator, no later than Friday March 10th. Credits are not automatically put towards the next tournament and must be used by the end of the fiscal year, March 31st, 2006.

Training Camp

In preparation for the Cadet Nationals in Sarnia their will be a training camp, March 24 – 26, 2006 (in Sarnia) for the Cadet Provincial Team and the Senior Female FTS participants.Details of the camp will be provided to the champions this weekend.

Coaching Clinics

Two coaching clinics are scheduled for March:

Level I NCCP Technical in London, March 25, 2006.

Level II NCCP Technical in Toronto, March 24 & 25, 2006.

Registrations

The Registrar at Boxing Canada is only working part-time now so please allow yourself at least three weeks to have registrations processed to avoid disappointment. Boxing Ontario submits applications every Friday only. To ensure there are no delays in processing your registrations please make sure you submit:

·Completed & signed registration and medical forms

·PLEASE MAKE SURE THE DOCTOR HAS DATED THE MEDICAL.IF THERE IS NO DATE, THERE WILL BE A DELAY AS OUR REGISTRAR WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE FOR VERIFICATION

·The correct fee ($40 for cadets, $50 for everyone else initial or renewal, $75 for dual memberships

·Proof of age

·Passport size photo

·A police background check, if required (coaches & officials on initial application and every two years afterwards).

·Renewal application does not require proof of age or a photo.

Awards Dinner

We are gearing up for our third annual Awards Dinner and Legends presentations.The event will take place in Oakville, May 27, 2006, in conjunction with our Annual General Meeting.If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please contact the Marketing and Communications Director, Kanae Li at 416.426.7045.Nomination forms for the event have been posted under the “Members Only” section of the website.
