FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Toronto, ON – August 18, 2025Boxing Ontario is proud to sanction the second annual Novice Tournament on August 22-24, 2025 in London, ON.

The tournament, which is hosted by Boomerz Boxing and Jouda Promotions in partnership with Tourism London, is set to welcome approximately 380 athletes to the BMO Centre London for three days and four sessions of Olympic-style boxing.

“Hosting the tournament in London highlights the strength of collaboration between local clubs, organizers, and the broader boxing community,” the Committee stated. “Together, we’re creating opportunities for development and celebrating the future of boxing in Ontario.”

Olympic-style boxing emphasizes technical skill, strategy, and athleticism. Boxers need to combine punching technique, footwork, tactics, and defence to score points against their opponents. This requires a high level of skill, discipline, speed, power, endurance, agility, and mental toughness.

“This event is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of Ontario’s up-and-coming boxing talent,” said the Ontario Novice Tournament Committee. “Novice athletes [boxers with 0-10 bouts on their record] are the future of our sport, and this tournament gives them the chance to step into the ring, build confidence, and grow within a safe and supportive environment.”

Those curious about Olympic-style boxing are encouraged to attend the tournament to learn more about the “Sweet Science”. Spectator tickets are available at the door, and the full schedule is available on Boxing Ontario’s website.
