Nine Ontario boxers on Canada’s Elite National team will be competing at the 2023 Pan American Games (PAG) Domestic Qualification Competition in Montreal, QC from June 20-23 as part of their journey to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

71kg – Hunter Lee
71kg – Kuwardeep Manu
80kg – Umar Carcamo
92+ kg – Doni Foreman

The 2023 Pan American Games is a direct qualification event for Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and as such, the weight categories are identical to those at the Paris Olympics:

Olympic Weight Categories:

  • Elite Men’s: 51kg, 57kg, 63.5kg, 71kg, 80kg, 92 kg, +92kg
  • Elite Women’s: 50kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 66kg, 75kg

Athlete eligibility to compete in the Qualifiers was based on rankings from the 2023 Elite National Championships last February in Brampton.

The Domestic Pan American Games Qualification Competition results will be used to place athletes in each division in rank order based on their results at this elimination-style competition. The top ranked athlete will earn their spot to compete at the Pan Am Qualifiers in Cali, Colombia with Team Canada.

The coaches selected by Boxing Ontario’s Coaching Committee to represent Team Ontario at the PAG Domestic Qualifiers are Socrates Celestial, Cedric Benn, and Crista Aguinaldo. Congratulations to these coaches on their appointments!

Day 1, Session 1 of the Qualifiers begins Tuesday, June 20 at 2pm ET. There will only be one session per day starting at 2pm ET every day until the last day of competition on Friday, June 23. Live streaming of the PAG Domestic Qualifiers is available on FITE TV.
