The Women’s National team travelled to Turkey this past weekend in their first tournament of the National Program. Four out of seven of the Canadian Women’s National team made it into the medal rounds at the Ahmet Comert Cup in Istanbul, Turkey.
 
Ariane Fortin defeated Poland, Melinda Watpool defeated China and Mandy Bujold defeated Hungary. In their first round efforts

Mary Spencer defeated Irina Sinetskaya of Russia ( 3 time world champion in 2 weight categories) 5-1, in her first round effort and went on to win Gold against the 75kg World Champion from China.
 
Along with Mary, Ariane Fortin of Quebec headed to the finals but fell in a heartbreaking loss to Russia.

Melinda Watpool of Durham and Mandy Bujold of Kitchener both lost in Semi-Final action but captured bronze medals
 
Canada finishes with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
