Volume 7: Day 3 in Athens (Written by Adam Trupish)

Hey Canada, I’m finally totally adjusted to the elements here in Athens.  Late yesterday was the first time I’ve felt really good since landing the other day.  I think a combination of the heat, travel, and atmosphere took alot out of me.  We had a small get-together for the Canadian Team, there we were given speeches from the heads of Sport Canada, former gold medalists, even the Prime Minister.  It was pretty cool, until it was cut short cause we had to rush out for our training session.  We got word today that the opening ceremonies (which only me, Andrew Kooner, and Benoit Gaudet will participate in) will take about 9 hours to fully complete.  So today I must make sure my weight is on because we have the first offical weigh-ins followed by the draw.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a great draw, but I’m ready for anyone, so bring ’em on.

Till tommorrow go Canada and root us on.

Volume 6: Arriving in Athens (Written by Adam Trupish)

Just getting settled here in Athens – what a crazy couple of days.  I finally had a good 9 hr sleep last night which I really needed, because the night before I only slept 3 terrible hours on the plane ride over.  Things are starting to run smoothly now, we have been outfitted and roomed, and toured around the athletes village. The village is huge, and you can do anything you want here, you name and it’s got it.  Bell Canada has given us emergency phones in case of any problems with 500 international minutes which is great.  CBC has advised us we are doing a photo shoot at the ancient acropolus.  It should be amazing, because the acopolus is just the most fascinating site in the world.  It has so much history and I try to imagine all the great people who have walked in the same paths before us.

Went for a light workout this morning, it was good to get some of the jet lag off.  I also have a massage appointment to loosen up my back.  Weigh-ins are the morning of the opening ceremonies.  I’m about 0.8 of a kilogram over, no sweat.  We have a usual workout tonight at 9pm and my weight should be back to normal.  Feel free to write it’s nice to hear from Canadians rooting us on, I’ll tallk to you tomorrow.
