Team Canada finished Day 3 with 2 wins and 2 losses and will send 8 boxers to the finals Saturday at the Women’s Continental Championships in Argentina.  Congratulations to Windsor’s Mary Spencer who defeated 2-Time National Champion Elizabeth Quevedo of the United States 11-7.  She advances to the finals to face an Argentinian opponent.  The women are spending Friday on a bus trip in Buenos Aires, enjoying the sights and relaxing before a series of tough gold medal bouts.

Coach Stewart Makes Final 3 at Ontario Sport Awards

Boxing Ontario is pleased to announce that Charlie Stewart has been selected as one of three candidates to receive the Ontario Coach of the Year honours at the Ontario Sport Awards for 2004.  To be chosen from hundreds of nominations to make the final three is a great achievement and we wish Coach Stewart good luck for the final vote.  Also up for Awards are President Val Ryan (Syl Apps Award for Outstanding Contributions to Sport) and Richard Lortie of TOP TEN Canada (Corporate Sport Citation Award).  The winners will be announced at the Ontario Sport Awards on Thursday, April 7 at the Ontario Science Centre.  For ticket information contact Robin Witty at 416.426.7221.
