MEDIA ADVISORY

Mary Spencer Takes 3rd World Championship in Barbados.

They say good things come in three’s. Well something good has definitely happened to Windsor’s golden girl – Mary Spencer. On Friday Mary took her third world title away from last year’s 75kg champion, Jinzi Li of China, beating her 14-2.

Mary is so excited at her win, “I just can’t wait to come home,” she said. Mary won her first title in 2005, her second in 2008 and has now brought home her third World Championship in 5 yrs. Mary’s weight category is only 1 of 3 allowed in the 2012 Olympics. For the first time in history women will be featured in amateur boxing at the London Games. With this win, we know Mary is ready.
