Boxing Ontario and Boomerz Boxing Club are thrilled to welcome boxing fans to the highly anticipated Novice Tournament in London, ON from August 23-25, 2024.

The tournament will be held at the BMO Centre London (295 Rectory St) over the course of three days and four sessions and is open to Novice boxers (athletes with 0-10 bouts) in all categories: Initiation Funbox, Juniors, Youth, Elite, and Masters.

The goal of this tournament is to further develop the impressive and competitive Novice boxing talent right here in Ontario and to grow the exciting sport of Olympic-style boxing in our province.

“The organizing committee and Boomerz Boxing are excited to welcome Boxing Ontario athletes from across the province to London. This tournament, organized in collaboration with the Board of Boxing Ontario and Tourism London, aims to foster discipline, personal development, and growth in the next generation of boxers,” says Tournament Director Abdul Jouda, who is also a co-director and coach of Boomerz Boxing Club and President of Jouda Promotions.

Olympic-style boxing emphasizes technical skill, strategy, and athleticism. Boxers need to combine punching technique, footwork, tactics, and defence to score points against their opponents. This requires a high level of skill, discipline, speed, power, endurance, agility, and mental toughness.

“Boxing has a rich history within our city, and events like this tournament provide an invaluable platform for our local talent to shine. By nurturing young athletes and providing them with opportunities to compete and excel, we are investing in the future of our community and fostering a culture of athleticism and resilience,” says London Mayor Josh Morgan.

Spectator tickets are available for purchase online in advance and at the door. The full schedule is available on Boxing Ontario’s website. The session times are as follows:

Session 1: Friday, August 23 | 6pm – 10pm
Session 2: Saturday, August 24 | 1pm – 5pm
Session 3: Saturday, August 24 | 6pm – 10pm
Session 4: Sunday, August 25 | 12pm

Don’t miss out on this epic event and witness the future stars of boxing in action!
