Montreal – April 11, 2022. The Canadian Elite women will look to build on their success from the Continental Championships at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. The competition will take place from May 6th to 21st in Istanbul, Turkey. The following boxers will represent Canada at this tournament:

            48 kg Priyanka Dhillon
            54 kg Scarlett Delgado
            66 kg Charlie Cavanagh
            75 kg Tammara Thibeault

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Women’s World Boxing Championships have not been held since 2019, when Tammara Thibeault won bronze. Tammara will look to improve on that result while her teammates will be making their debut in this competition.

“After two years of cancellations, we are happy that the Women’s World Championships will finally take place,” said Daniel Trépanier, Boxing Canada’s High Performance Director. “This team performed well at the Continental Championships and will now have an opportunity to improve on the international scene.”

A training camp will be taking place in Kienbaum, Germany from April 25th to May 6th. The official draw is scheduled for Sunday, May 8th and the competition will begin the following day. All information relating to the tournament, such as draw sheets, schedule, and results, will be updated throughout the championships on our Event webpage and social media platforms.
