Boxers from across the province met in Toronto on Sunday for the BOX-ON! Instructors Seminar.  The purpose of the seminar was to gather young boxing leaders amongst the Boxing Ontario membership and teach them the youth program that they will be introducing to students.  As part of the BOX-ON! Blitz, this seminar was the first step in preparing our boxing experts for the road ahead.  Instructors received a presentation from Guest Speaker Ann Doggett, a renowned Field Hockey Coach and teaching specialist, and they studied the program via tutelage from Head BOX-ON! Instructor Kathy Ure.

The first step was a great success and thank you to all who participated!  Many instructors traveled long distances to be here, which is a sign that our members care about the growth of this sport and want to make a positive impact on young people’s lives.  We are very excited for the future of amateur boxing in Ontario!

The BOX-ON! Blitz! will commence throughout the months of February and March, with a goal of reaching a minimum 30 schools in Ontario.  Our instructors will visit each school for a day and run the students through our standardized youth fitness program.  Utilizing Olympic boxing training techniques, the program is a non-contact, safety-first warm-up that emphasizes the importance of active living and fitness.  The goal of BOX-ON! is to get kids healthy and help create awareness of the sport of amateur boxing.  Following the two month blitz we plan to continue this project and make it even bigger!
