FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Frankfurt (Oder), Germany – July 25, 2025 — Canada’s Youth National Boxing Team is set to compete at the 2025 Brandenburg Cup, taking place from July 29 to August 3 in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. Recognized as one of the premier international tournaments for youth (U19) boxers, the Brandenburg Cup offers a high-level platform for emerging athletes to gain crucial experience against elite international opponents.
For many of the athletes, this will be their first European competition, a significant milestone in Boxing Canada’s strategic plan to expand international exposure early in the development pathway. Competing abroad at this stage is essential for building technical versatility, mental resilience, and the strategic adaptability required for future success at events such as the Youth World Championships and ultimately, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane.

The Canadian team arrives in Germany following an intensive training block focused on refining technical skills and preparing for the challenges of international boxing. Coaches expect a highly competitive field, with a diverse range of styles and experienced opponents offering an ideal learning environment. The competition format, which includes unfamiliar officiating and tournament pressure, provides the kind of test Boxing Canada considers essential for long-term athlete development.
Boxing Canada Executive Director Christopher Lindsay emphasized the strategic value of this international experience: “We’re investing in our youth athletes now by exposing them to elite-level boxing at an early stage. These experiences are critical for their long-term growth. We want them to be ready, confident, and capable when it matters most on the world stage.
The official draw will be held July 29. Boxing Canada will post bout schedules, results, and livestream links at BoxingCanada.org for the competition once they are available.
