Boxing Ontario’s Female Development Committee (FDC), in partnership with the Women Reign 3 all-female club competition, hosted a sparring session on June 23 at Budo Canada in North York.

Female athletes from across the province gathered for a day of sparring, training, and community building on the final day of the Women Reign all-female boxing event, which was founded in 2022 by Lee Smith and Nick Maroulis as a celebration of female athletes in the sport of boxing.

The athletes had the valuable opportunity to engage in quality sparring rounds, gaining experience against a variety of opponents. Sparring rounds were overseen by the FDC’s certified coaches with the support of the athletes’ personal coaches. Throughout the session, the boxers received feedback, learned from one another, and were motivated by the insights shared by special guests.

Among the distinguished attendees was WBA Light Flyweight World Champion Sara Bailey from the West End Athletic Club, who brought along her championship belt to inspire the athletes.

Thank you to the Female Development Committee members, Lee Smith, and Budo Canada for making the session possible.
