Female athletes from across Ontario converged on Sully’s Boxing Gym in Toronto on May 26, 2024 for the latest Performance & Development Camp hosted by Boxing Ontario’s Female Development Committee (FDC).

Following a warmup, the athletes participated in a skipping workshop led by KW Jump Rope, a competitive and recreational jump rope team based in Kitchener-Waterloo. The workshop was a great opportunity for the boxers to expand upon and develop their rope skills and footwork, plus pick up some impressive new tricks!

Afterwards, the approximately 30 athletes were divided into smaller groups for sparring, which was supervised by the Female Development Committee coaches with the support of the athletes’ personal coaches.

FDC Performance & Development Camps provide valuable opportunities for female athletes of all ages, categories, and experience levels to receive quality sparring rounds with a variety of different opponents and styles.

In addition to the developmental sparring, the athletes rotated through a circuit which also included bag work and technical sparring to complete the comprehensive training camp.

Thank you to the FDC for organizing another successful camp and for their commitment to providing opportunities to further grow female boxing in Ontario. Thank you also to Sully’s for hosting everyone, to KW Jump Rope for sharing their expertise, and to the athletes and their coaches for their time and support.

The next FDC sparring opportunity will take place in conjunction with the Women Reign all-female club competition hosted by Budo Canada on the morning of June 23, 2024. Registration in advance is required.
