Boxing Ontario chronicles the adventures of Adam Trupish and his teammates as they prepare for Athens and fulfill a lifelong dream – to box in the Olympic Games.

Volume 1: Training Preparation (Written by Adam Trupish)

Well hello boxing fans. With one month remaining before opening ceremonies in Athens, I’m currently midway through our olympic training camp in Windsor.  Training has been excruciating.  I feel great though, I’m stronger, faster and smarter than ever.  Team Trupish Olympic Training Camp consists of a professional group of experts in each of their specialized fields:

Charles Stewart – Level V Olympic Team Coach

Kerry Berry- NFL Kansas City Chiefs Athletic Co-ordinator

Rob Maggio- OHL Windsor Spitfires Athletic Director

Gary Renee- Speed and Conditioning Specialist

and many sponsors, sparring partners, coaches and supporters too many to name

My day usually starts at 5:15 am with my wife Autum kicking me out of bed.  By 5:45 am I’m arriving at the Windsor Amateur Boxing Club to work on technical skills and sparring.  Soon followed by some sprints at the U of W track and then hill sprints at Malden Park.  Four hours later I’ll rest until the hottest time of the day, around 1:30 pm then I will jog a few kilometres fully clothed to prepare for the emence heat Athens has to offer, 40 +. In the evening I’ll do some abs, stretching and sauna.  Thats an average day for me.  Yesterday my weight was 68 kg.  WOW, lightest I’ve been in 4 years.

The Rodney benefit for Andrew Kooner and I was a success.  The great event was shown on Saturday, CBC National TV.  Today in my down time I will be writting elementary school children from Winnipeg, Manitoba as part of a student/olympic athlete pen pal program.

I’m happy to announce the Canadian Boxing Team has grown to a four member team going to Athens.  Light heavyweight Canadian Champ Trevor Stewardson, formally of Thunder Bay will be greatly missed in Athens; he qualified but failed to meet COC standards to go to Athens.  I’ll keep in touch and you can too, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
