Boxing Ontario E-Learning Speaker Series – Female Development

The Female Development Committee is excited to welcome each of the below industry professionals to our inaugural 2021 E-Learning Speaker Series. This series will be focused on female development in sport alongside practical methodology designed to support and encourage female and inclusive leadership development within the sport of boxing.

With the diverse topics and speakers from multi-sport backgrounds, the goal of this E-Learning Speaker Series is to add value and create a “tool kit” for athletes, coaches, clubs and officials to develop and retain females in the sport all while building strong, lifelong leaders.

Session 1: Raising Awareness – Implicit Bias and How It Disproportionately Affects Girls and Women

Speakers: Carmelina Moscato & Dr. Tracy Vaillancourt

Carmelina Moscato

Carmelina Moscato was a member of Team Canada’s historic bronze medal-winning soccer team in London 2012. She has participated in three FIFA Women’s World Cup teams (2003 and 2011 & 2015). She was the head coach of the U15 Canadian National Team that won silver at the 2016 U15 Concacaf Championships as well as an assistant with U20 National team in 2018 and 2020. She was also a Canadian Soccer REX Talent Manager from 2017-2018. Her professional playing career ended in 2016 in Australia where she played for Western Sydney Wanderers in the W-League. She’s also played professionally for clubs in Italy and Sweden. She was appointed as Technical Director for the Kleinburg Nobleton Soccer Club in Ontario, Canada for seven months in 2019, before she began working for Canadian Soccer Business as the Manager of Women’s Professional Football Development. She is currently the Director of Women’s Football and Coach Education for the Bahamas Football Association. She is an award-nominated Soccer Analyst for her work for TSN at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also acts as an instructor/facilitator for Concacaf and is a UEFA A License Coach.

Dr. Tracy Vaillancourt

Dr. Tracy Vaillancourt is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in School-Based Mental Health and Violence Prevention at the University of Ottawa where she is cross-appointed as a full professor in Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education and the School of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences. She is also an elected member of The College of the Royal Society of Canada and currently chairing their Children and Schools committee. Dr. Vaillancourt’s research examines the links between bullying and mental health, with a particular focus on social neuroscience.

Dr. Vaillancourt holds a CSA National B Licence. She is an Ontario provincial coach, a member of Ontario Soccer’s Technical Advisory Committee, and a consultant for the Children’s Licence (Canada Soccer).

Speaker: Shelley Coolidge

Shelley is an entrepreneur who developed her business and brand based on years of education and experience competing, coaching, mentoring, officiating, and developing programs. A certified educator, Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC), Master Coach Developer, Mentor, and leader across multi-sport, international, national, provincial, post-secondary and community sport sectors, Shelley is most passionate about empowering others in values-based leadership!
