Oshawa – The Boxing Ontario Year End Gala is set to take place on Saturday May 30 in Oshawa. This SOLD OUT highly anticipated event celebrates a successful year in amateur boxing. The evening will consist of fine dining, action packed bouts – with a main event that is sure to please. Oshawa’s Frankie Rill of Motor City Boxing Cluib will take on Toronto’s Shavar Henry from the Cabbagetown Boxing Club.

Guests will also have the chance to win a trip for 2 to Ottawa, courtesy of VIA Rail,  bid on silent auction items and win plenty of door prizes.

This event is supported by many numerous partners in the community, VIA Rail, 94.9 The Rock, Holiday Inn Oshawa and more.

Boxing Ontario will also honour athletes, coaches, and officials who shined this past season. The recipients of the 2008-2009 awards are:

               Female Athelete of the Year: Mary Spencer, Windsor Amateur Boxing Club (Windsor, ON)

                  Male Athlete of the Year: Rodolpho Velasquez, McGrory’s Boxing Club (Hamilton, ON)

                  Coach Of the Year: Charlie Stewart, Windsor Amateur Boxing Club (Windsor, ON)

                  Official of the Year: Keri Ireland

                  Volunteer of the Year: Val Ryan

Dinner starts at 6:30pm; Boxing begins at 8:30pm. All media are welcome to attend.
