Boxing Ontario’s team delivered an outstanding performance at the U17, U19, and U23 Canadian Championships, bringing home an impressive total of 41 medals including 13 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze plus 3 additional national titles.
Ontario sent a team of over 70 athletes to this year’s Canadian Championships which were held in Quebec City from May 28-June 1, 2025. The tournament was hosted by Boxing Canada in conjunction with Boxe Quebec’s Quebec Open tournament and welcomed top U17/U19/U23 athletes from across the nation.
The official Boxing Canada medal results for Ontario are as follows:
Gold and silver medalists plus uncontested national titlists have qualified to represent Canada on the National Team—an incredible opportunity for these talented, young athletes to significantly advance their Olympic-style boxing journeys, represent Canada at tournaments around the world, and even begin their bids for the LA28 Olympic Games.
“Team Ontario had a great tournament,” said Nationals Team and Provincial Coach Ray Napper. “Everyone came out showing their talent and their heart. I was very happy to see the effort put into preparing for nationals by the boxers and their coaches. A big congrats goes out to all the Ontario athletes on a job well done.”
Throughout the tournament, Ontario’s athletes showcased exceptional skills, unwavering determination, and fierce competitiveness. Their professionalism and supportive team spirit exemplified the best of Team Ontario, and the Boxing Ontario family could not be more proud of their representation.
“I fought at 48kg in the U17 division. I fought first on Saturday against Brody Berg where I won by unanimous; it was a great fight,” says Team Ontario athlete Curtis Realba, who boxes out of Fighting Island. “I then fought on Sunday in the finals against Grayson O’Connor where I won gold. He is a great fighter, and it was a good fight. It was a great experience, and I am very thankful for all my coaches and family for making it happen.”
“Congratulations to all the boxers from Team Ontario! Once again Team O had a tremendous tournament. We are really blessed to have such a great group of athletes in this province. I continue to be amazed by their talent and dedication,” echoed Team Coach Julia DiMarcantonio. “A huge shout out to these athletes for leaving it all in the ring time and time again, and for continuing to show up for their teammates during the tremendous highs, lows, and everything in between.”
Boxing Ontario would like to thank our Nationals team coaches Crista Aguinaldo (Oakville Boxing Academy), Virgil Barrow (Kingsway Boxing Club), Julia DiMarcantonio (Napper’s Boxing Club), and Ray Napper (Napper’s Boxing Club and Boxing Ontario’s Provincial Coach) for their expertise, leadership, and dedication. Their efforts—including executing team training camps with the High Performance Committee, managing over 70 athletes on the road, and their corner work—contributed significantly to Ontario’s success.
Boxing Ontario would also like to congratulate the athletes’ personal coaches and home for their ongoing dedication in developing these talented fighters.
“Thanks also goes out to all the coaches from clubs across this province working hard every day to develop these talented young athletes. Without your sacrifice and dedication none of this would be possible. It was a pleasure working with all of you, and I look forward to many more successful tourneys with Team O in the future,” reiterated Coach Julia.
Boxing Ontario wishes to congratulate the entire U17, U19, and U23 Provincial Team. Whether earning medals, setting personal bests, or gaining invaluable experience, each athlete’s effort reflects the strength and spirit of Ontario boxing.
“Team O represented Ontario well: brought home a heap of medals, crowned some new national title holders, and competed,” says Coach Virgil Barrow. “Kudos to all those Ontario coaches developing their boxers in their home gyms. We look forward to seeing the growth in these athletes.”
