Please join Boxing Ontario in congratulating Jorge Luis on this prestigious award. Jorge Luis of the Champs Eastside Boxing Club will be inducted into the Benson Cornwall Hall Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday August 19, 2006.

Jorge Luis began his amateur boxing career over 15 years ago. Called one of the most skilled heavyweights in Cornwall’s history Jorge effortlessly competed and beat provincially and nationally ranked opponents.

However the one opponent that seemed to physically stop Jorge was a devastating ankle injury that ultimately ended his bright career. This injury did not curb Jorge’s love for boxing. He later founded what we now know as Champs Eastside Boxing Club.

Jorge Luis is the head coach of many talented competitors, one of which is his own son, Tony Luis. Jorge is now known as the coach of a two time Canadian champion, a two time Canadian silver medalist, two novice champions, and numerous Ontario titles.

Jorge has also coached the Ontario cadet team in 2004. In 2005 he was named the manger of the Ontario junior team. This year Jorge was selected to coach Team Ontario at the Canadian Championships. Jorge also currently is Boxing Ontario’s Eastern Director.

Congratulations Jorge on your accomplishments!
