Bill Mackie, long-time member of Boxing Ontario, passed away on April 8, 2020. In the 1990s he served as Boxing Ontario’s President. He was an AIBA Referee/Judge and our Boxing Ontario Chief Official for a time. A mentor to many officials in Boxing Ontario, Bill moved over to the professional game a number of years ago as a timekeeper.
Past Chief Official of Boxing Ontario and Canada, Sonny Wong, fondly remembers Bill: “We had fun critiquing each other and learning from each other.” Bill was one of the officials whom Sonny received mentoring from when he started officiating.
Bill was deeply respected and will be missed by all who knew him.
