Congratulations to the members of Team Canada who participated in the Francophone Games in Naimey, Niger, from December 12-17. Ontario boasted 5 participants on the team, including St. Catharines’ Glenn Hunter (pictured), who returns home with a bronze medal.
Also, congratulations and bon voyage to Team Scotland, who last week came to Ontario to compete in two club shows and train for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. On Friday the St. Catharines Amateur Boxing Club hosted a show and Canada came out on top, winning 6-3 in match scores. Here are the results from the show:

On Sunday the 18th the Big Tyme Boxing Club hosted the second Canada vs. Scotland show, and there was no shortage of drama here. Team Scotland roared out of the gates, winning the first 5 bouts. But Team Canada battled back and won the last five, capped by Steve Franjic’s 2-1 decision over Scottish Champ Andrew McKelvie. Here are the results:
