Four Ontario female amateur boxing athletes traveled to Port of Spain, Trinidad to represent Canada at the Pan American Female Boxing Championships held from October 1-8. Competition started on October 3 at the Chaguaramas Convention Centre in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago
Three Ontario athletes who are members of the National Team entered the finals last night and all three left with gold medals.
In the 50 kg class, Mandy Bujold defeated Cheryl Houlihan of the USA 4-3 on points. Katie Dunn defeated Quanitta Underwood of the USA 13-5 in the 63 kg category. Mary Spencer defeated Venessa Jackson of the USA in the 66 kg category on points 4-0. Mary also walked away with the Best Boxer Award for the tournament.
