The programs for the Cadet provincial championship have been posted on the website.   If you did not get a bout this tournament don’t forget there’s another tournament right around the corner – the Ray McGibbons Gloves is scheduled for April 8-10, 2005 in St. Catharines.

Coaches

A reminder to coaches – only coaches registered for 2005 are eligible to work the corners at sanctioned events.  As per the last 2 tournaments, registered coaches will be issued coloured wrist bands at the weigh-ins, which must be worn in order to work the corners.

Coaching Clinic – Training Athletes for Elite Level Competition

There will be a coaching clinic at the Cadet Provincials, delivered by renowned sports psychologist Dr. Robert Schinke.  The clinic will take place on Friday afternoon from 3:00pm to 5:00pm (after the weigh-ins and draw) and on Saturday morning from 9:00am to 11:00am – at the Holiday Inn in the weigh-in room. We will be offering a light lunch and breakfast in conjunction with the clinic.  Dr. Schinke will be covering topics such as Resilience and Persistence training, how to communicate effectively with athletes and preparing them for elite level competition.  Opportunities to have sports specialists deliver clinics such as this on our turf are extremely rare.  We strongly encourage you to sign up and take advantage of this subsidized clinic. For more information contact Boxing Ontario.  Clinic opne to registered coaches only.

Cadet Training Camp

Following the cadet provincials, Boxing Ontario will be sponsoring a training camp for the Ontario Cadet Team, before they head to Nationals in Prince George BC.  The training camp will take place on March 18-20, 2005 in Lindsay and all team members are expected to participate.  Team coaches will lead the camp, and Dr. Schinke will once again assist the coaches in preparing the athletes for National competition.  Ontario cadet team members will be notified of the details early next week.
