Boxing Ontario is thrilled to announce that Eyobe Amberber has joined our Board of Directors as a Director at Large.
Earlier this year, Tom Hennessey stepped down as a Boxing Ontario Board Member to pursue his role as a Board Member for Boxing Canada. Boxing Ontario would like to thank Tom for all his hard work, determination, and passion for growing the sport of boxing in our province. We know he will continue to make an extraordinary impact on amateur boxing at the National level.
Shortly after, Eyobe was appointed by the Board to fill the vacant Director at Large position for the remainder of the term.
Eyobe is a former Junior Champion and boxing coach, and he has served as an Officer of the Board in the role of Treasurer. His expertise as a finance professional, his passion and dedication for the sport of boxing, and his deep knowledge of the organization are just some of the many attributes that make him an incredible asset to the Board of Directors team. Eyobe will maintain his position of Treasurer in addition to the role of Director at Large.
Learn more about Eyobe below:
I’m a finance professional with over 10 years of progressive experience gained through the franchise and media industries, among others. I specialize in financial reporting, budgeting, tax, and finance operations. I graduated with a B.B.A from the University of Toronto and went on to get my CPA designation. Currently I’m the Controller of a QSR player in the hospitality space.
While I was in high school, I competed as an amateur boxer for just under four years. In late 2006, I won the junior open Ontario championships in the bantamweight category. I went on to represent Ontario in the 2007 Canada games in Whitehorse, Yukon.
After I exited the sport to go to University, I stayed connected by getting my Level 1 coaching certification and spent summers working at my old boxing club: helping out and training the beginners classes.
Boxing Ontario has such a commendable mandate. It does incredible work for the sport of boxing in our province. I want to pay it forward to an organization that has facilitated a great experience in my youth.
Welcome to the Board of Directors, Eyobe!
