On September 9, 2024, Boxing Ontario received the verbal decision of Justice Koehnen of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on the Application filed by Michael Williamson in February 2023. Justice Koehnen deemed that Mr. Williamson abandoned his application and ordered that both of Mr. Williamson and Boxing Ontario be responsible for their own court costs.
Mr. Williamson’s application asked the court to order Boxing Ontario to, among other things, hold a new election to replace the one from October 2022. The merits of Mr. Williamson’s application were never heard or decided on because he abandoned his application before this could happen.
Responding to this court proceeding has required many resources and a lengthy period of time to deal with, and Boxing Ontario is glad that it is finally concluded.
Mr. Williamson’s association with Boxing Ontario in all capacities has recently been terminated, and he is ineligible to apply for re-instatement for a minimum of 15 years.
