From February to April 29 Boxing Ontario held a contest to bolster its 2005 membership drive. All clubs who registered non-competitive members (Recreational or FANatic) by the deadline were eligible to win one of three great prizes. A big thanks to all clubs who participated and put in a lot of effort! Here are the winners of the contest and the prizes:

1st Place: Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy – FREE Club Membership for 2006 (Value $500)

2nd Place: Windsor Amateur Boxing Club – 20 FREE competition tops with club embroidery, provided by TOP TEN Canada

3rd Place: Timmins Boxing Club – FREE 100lb Punch bag, provided by TOP TEN Canada

Regular incentives still apply (free gear for clubs), so you can still register more non-competitive members for 2005. The clubs who register the most members (one for competitors and one for non-competitors) will be recognized annually at our Awards Dinner.

Recreational Membership – these are individuals who participate in “boxercise” or boxing related activities at your gym that are NON-SPARRING activities. For only $5 in 2005, members receive a FREE skip rope, membership card, access to E-newsletter and Members Only section, and insurance coverage!

FANatic Membership – FANatics are your family, friends, co-workers, and volunteers who want to support Boxing Ontario without having to strap on the gloves. For only $5 in 2005, members receive membership card, access to E-newsletter and Members Only section, and a FREE Boxing Ontario wristband (a cool boxing version of the Lance Armstrong prototype).

Get Busy!
In 2004 our clubs averaged 180 members in their gyms. That’s over 10,000 people NOT registered with Boxing Ontario! Our membership numbers are critical for annual government funding. Start thinking now about how you can get your non-competitors signed on to the association. The results could be huge! We will continue to offer for incentives and contests and we will support you with your efforts.
