Volume 8: Opening Days (Written by Adam Trupish)

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay, it’s been quite busy the last few days. Yesterday we had our first weigh-ins, and everyone is doing fine. Our draw  took place later that afternoon and it was followed by press conferences, and the huge opening ceremonies. I hope you watched the ceremonies, they were crazy! It was the ultimate thrill. Myself, Kooner, and Benoit were the only boxers to attend, and it was worth every second. I got some amazing pics so I’ll have to send them out when i return home. Kooner and I decided to go with the Canadian flag waving over our heads so we would get some TV exposure.

Saturday was equally as busy. After sleeping in from the late night before we had to rush to the afternoon boxing show, where we had two Canadians fighting; Jean Pascal and then Trevor Stewardson. It was a tough draw for Jean having to face Cuba in the first round. Unfortunately, Jean just could not catch the gradual lead of the Cuban, losing on points after four rounds. Then it was Trevor Stewardson vs. Costa Verta. An evenly matched fight left Trevor warming up with a 31-91 victory over four rounds. It was our first win of many more to come.

The schedule has me fighting next against Azerbaijan, the no.3 in the world. I’ve noticed that the judges have been really pushing the buttons, making scores really high and open body shots are counting.

This plays in good favour for me as I’ll be quite busy in the ring and keeping my hands high for defence. I’ll be ready for tomorrow!I feel great, fast, and sharp. Can anyone say upset?

Wish me luck and I’ll talk to you after the fights.
