Award Winners for the 2004 Provincial Open Championships:

Best Female Boxer – Katie Dunn, Border City Boxing Club, 63kg Senior Female

Katie overwhelmed her opponents, first defeating Wendy Lee of Sully’s by RSC in the 2nd Round and then handing Tanya Tomlinson of Windsor Amateur Boxing a loss by RSCO2 in the finals.  This was a very competitive division and Katie was dominant throughout.

Best Male Boxer – Tony Luis – Champs Eastside Boxing Club, 57kg Junior Male

Tony displayed great speed and power as he outlasted a packed division of great boxers.  He first outduelled Padraic Griffin of Big Tyme Boxing by RSCOS3 and then defeated Steve Marsh of Niagara Falls Boxing Club by RSCOS2.  Another great division and another great champion.

Best Bout – Justin White (McGrory’s Boxing) versus Frank White (River City Boxing)

The Male 91kg Senior Championship bout was a full-out battle.  Both boxers were very experienced and familiar with each other and it showed as they matched punches throughout the contest.  The bout was extremely close for the entire match, but Justin White prevailed with a 36-33 victory.  Congratulations to both boxers for putting on such an outstanding effort.
