MEDIA ADVISORY

The best boxers in the province will congregate in Oshawa this weekend starting on Thursday for the Junior C, Youth & Elite Provincial Championships. There will be over 70 live amateur bouts during this 4 day event. Over 30 boxing clubs and over 100 athletes from across Ontario will take part. Winners this weekend make the Provincial team that will ultimately represent Ontario at their respective Nationals early next year.

Quest for Gold candidates, Jonathan Bochner (Atlas), Stuart Boyd (McGrory’s), Josh Cameron (Border City), Ron Makovoz (Atlas) and Kassandra O’Reilly (Steeltown), are all contending for Gold this weekend. This weekend will be full of powerful female bouts such as Heather Hopkins (CYC) vs. Jackie Lachapelle (Bay Area), Joyce Findlay (Fighting Alliance) vs. Lita Mae Button(Atlas) and as well as some highly anticipated male matchups like Steve Rolls(Bigtyme) vs. Lukas Welniak (Border City); these bouts and more are sure to please the crowd.

Oshawa is excited to have such a great event in its town and could not have been done without great support of amateur boxing from Power Workers Union, Mills Pontiac Buick, Molson’s Brewery, the Holiday Inn and Top Ten Canada-Boxing Ontario’s Official Equipment Sponsor.
