Boxing Ontario is pleased to announce that Mary Spencer of the Windsor Amateur Boxing Club has captured a Gold medal at the Women’s World Championships in Podolsk, Russia. Mary defeated Irina Sinetskaya, 2-Time World Champion and 3-Time European Champion, by a score of 28 – 21 to become Canada’s only female World Champion. She was also voted Best Boxer of the Tournament.
Ontario’s other competitor, Katie Dunn of the Border City Boxing Club, also performed very well and earned a Bronze medal with her 2-1 record.
