Fish Leads Canucks

Colin Fish of the Motor City Boxing Club has won his first bout at the World Cadet Championships in Liverpool, UK.  Fish defeated U. Demin of Belarus by RSCOS in the 2nd Round in the 80kg class.  He will now move on to the quarterfinals against an opponent from the Ukraine.  Jerome Gabriel also of Motor City got a bye into the quarterfinals and will box Ukraine.  Semi-finals are on Monday the 17th and Finals on Tuesday the 18th.

The 2005 Cadet World Championships are the first in amateur boxing history to be judged by open scoring, with points shown instantaneously on huge screens above the ring.  The new method has been introduced as a trial for future Olympic Games.
