Boxing Ontario sends its congratulations to Jorge Luis (pictured middle, with his boxers), who was recently honoured at Champs Eastside Boxing Club in Cornwall.  The club was founded 5 years ago by Luis and has revitalized the sport of amateur boxing in Cornwall and the surrounding area.  Jorge received a plaque of recognition from his athletes and their parents, and the club has posted a great write-up on their fearless leader.  Check out www.champsboxing.com for the article and some great photos!

In a letter to Boxing Ontario Tony Luis, son of Jorge, writes,” He has almost single handidly revived boxing in Cornwall and gives all of himself over and above the call of duty.  He has not made any money whatsoever for himself. He loves boxing and seeks to give kids in Cornwall the opportunities he did not have. He genuinely cares about his athletes in and out of the ring….. Boxing Ontario should be proud to count among its members an individual like my father.”

Jorge has been an active member at his club, at club shows and tournaments, and as a Provincial Coach for Ontario’s Cadet Team.  He is also the Eastern Regional Director.  Like many of our coaches in this sport, Jorge sacrifices countless hours and personal effects to be there for his athletes.  We thank and congratulate Jorge for his achievements!
