The Motor City Amateur Boxing Club has secured its bid and will host the Cadet C, Junior and Senior Open Provincial Championships. These championships have not been in Oshawa since 2005. Don Nelson, club coach, says” Motor City Boxing Club is extremely pleased and excited to host one of the largest amateur boxing tournaments in Canada. With Ontario being the largest province of active amateur boxers, we will be sure to put on an amazing Provincial Championship to bring forth pride and a sense of community to the Durham Region”.

This championship, one of the largest in Ontario, will be bigger and better than ever so much so that the venue this year will be the Holiday Inn Oshawa Whitby Conference Centre. “The Holiday Inn Oshawa Whitby Conference Centre is pleased to welcome the Boxing Ontario Cadet C, Junior and Senior Open Provincials Championships on October 29, 2008 being hosted by Oshawa’s Motor City Boxing Club. Motor City Boxing Club and Boxing Ontario are tremendous organizations and we look forward to working with them” says Amanda Hannah- Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn.

Boxers from all over Ontario are expected to take part in these championships. Those strong and skilled enough to take gold will advance to the Nationals later on this year.
