For the birth of this prestige event, the city of Moscow won the bid to host the World Cup; the historical signing ceremony was celebrated with great interests from the media and the public on May 19 in Moscow. Amongst the personalities present were: Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu, the President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), General Evgeny Murov, the President of the Boxing Federation of Russia and Mr. Iouri Mikhailovich Loujkov, the Mayor of the City of Moscow.

“I truly believe, our Russian friends will stage this event in the most prestigious manner and AIBA has its full confidence that this event will enhance and demonstrate that our sport is one of the most beloved sports around the world”, said by Dr. Wu.
